Onimusha ps4 ign Patch#
Hopefully, we’ll see these two games be revived for the modern era with modern upgrades soon.Welcome to the Day One Patch Podcast, where we cover the week's gaming news, rumours, reports, and more. Like Battle Stadium D.O.N, there was potential for more in Digimon Rumble Arena 2, with even more characters and settings from the anime to be brought into the game. This can really change the tides, which is usually how Digivolution was depicted in the anime. alternatives at the time was the inclusion of the Digivolution mechanic, where each Digimon could evolve twice in a battle. What made Rumble Arena 2 stand out from other Smash Bros. While some Digimon like Terriermon and Wormmon were left out for the sequel, Rumble Arena 2 did give fans a chance to play as evil Digimon like MaloMyotismon and Diaboromon. Rumble Arena 2 featured key Digimon heroes and villains from the first four seasons of the anime. Rumble Arena 2 expanded its players to four and an expanded roster of characters to choose from. The original Digimon Rumble Arena had elements of a platform fighter but was limited to only two combatants at a time. It’s a different way of accomplishing a four-player fighting game system that we have not seen since. Gameplay-wise, instead of a percentage meter or individual health bars, Battle Stadium D.O.N featured a shared life bar for all four combatants, making for a tug-of-war style of gameplay as dishing out more damage means more portion of the life bar you will control. Both One Piece and Naruto did not even reach their respective time skips at this point, so their roster only featured heroes, while Dragon Ball Z saw the inclusion of three villains: Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu. The roster leaned heavily to the Dragon Ball Z side of things as it was the veteran shonen at the time and was the only one that was completed. It wasn’t often anime fans got to see the three biggest shonen franchises coming together in this calibre. While it never got an English localisation, easy access to Japanese imports (read: piracy) made this game quite popular in Southeast Asia. to the forefront as this game featured the characters of Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Naruto. Out of all the games on this list, Battle Stadium D.O.N is the only one that truly brought the crossover aspect of Smash Bros. All in all, Onimusha Blade Warriors was a solid good time. The character roster featured all the heroes and villains from the first two Onimusha games, with surprise cameos from MegaMan.EXE and Zero as the only two crossover characters. Instead, players had to deplete each other’s health bars using attacks, items, or magic. While it shares Smash Bros’ penchant for four-player fighting, Blade Warriors put the series’ light RPG elements into its gameplay, allowing players to gain experience and level up individual characters in the story mode.Īs for the fighting itself, Blade Warriors was more like a beat ‘em up, as there were no ring outs or the percentage-based health system of the Smash Bros. The result was the multiplayer fighting game Onimusha Blade Warriors.

Onimusha ps4 ign series#
We’ve talked about how significant the Onimusha series was to Capcom and the PlayStation 2 before, and with its success, it was inevitable that the franchise would branch out and offer more to its fanbase. alternatives that PlayStation 2 owners had the pleasure of experiencing back in the 2000s. There were many attempts, but truly only a handful stand out.Īs such, let’s take a look back at some of the best Smash Bros. With the PlayStation 2 being a stellar console for third-party developers, many jumped at the opportunity to create their own four-player platform fighter for the system. Seeing as Nintendo keeps their first-party offerings exclusive to their platforms, it didn’t take long for other developers at the time to make their own alternatives. Melee on the Gamecube, it was a proven hit for Nintendo.
